Benefit Concert for Sait Tuzel
FRANK ROMANELLI IN CONCERT
in a benefit performance for Sait Tuzel and family
DATE: Friday, January 26, 2018
TIME: 8 pm
LOCATION: Johnny's at the Atlantic Resort, 240 Aquidneck Avenue, Middletown RI
Frank Romanelli, Rhode Island singer-songwriter and member of the Media Education Lab, performs a benefit concert to support Sait Tuzel and his family.
Sait Tuzel, a media literacy researcher in Turkey, was jailed for 8 months after being unfairly accused of terrorism by the Turkish government. Along with more than 30,000 academics, journalists and judges, Sait has been fired from his job as a tenured Associate Professor of Education in language arts education with a speciality in media literacy. His wife has also been fired from her university post. Neither of them can work at a university or leave the country as their passports have been revoked. This young family of four (with two young children) will be re-building their life after this terrible tragedy. Sait spent two years in Kingston, Rhode Island when he was a Visiting Scholar here at the University of Rhode Island. Frank Romanelli will donate concert proceeds to Sait directly via the Go Fund Me campaign so that he can re-build his life in Turkey. Your funds will support Sait and his young family at this difficult time.
