A democratic civilization will save itself only if it makes the language of the image into a stimulus for critical reflection, not an invitation to hypnosis.
Convergence and Community, Jan 16 - 17
The Harrington School of Communication and Media is convening a group of experts to explore how convergence and community are shaping the way we prepare future workers for a new knowledge network, especially in relation to the intersections of journalism and libraries.
The gathering is being organized by Bill Densmore, a consulting fellow to the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri and founder of the Media Giraffe Project and New England News Forum at UMass-Amherst. Bill is also a board member of Journalism That Matters Inc., and organized with MIT and the Institute for Museum and Library Services last year's "Beyond Books" conference in Cambridge.
