Free Speech, Hate Speech and Censorship

Join us for an online discussion about how digital technologies are reshaping people's ideas about the scope and limitations of freedom of expression. The rise of hate speech and other harms caused by social media has led some people to question the value of free speech, as media companies and governments use strategies such as content moderation and regulation. Does a wide open "marketplace of ideas" still make sense in an era when everyone has a public voice?

How are digital technologies influencing people's understanding of free speech, hate speech and censorship?

Through a powerful combination of AI and human listening, we aim to surface community voices into public dialogue that showcases and strengthens media literacy competencies essential for citizenship.
