Media Literacy Week Kick Off Event
DATE: Monday, November 6
TIME: 8am – 3:30pm
LOCATION: Thomson Reuters – 3 Times Square, New York City
To kick off the 3rd annual U.S. Media Literacy Week, Reuters and the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) are bringing together journalists, pre-K to grade-12 educators, higher education professors, and researchers to discuss journalism and media literacy in today’s world. Renee Hobbs offers a workshop on analyzing different types of information and new forms of contemporary propaganda. Conversations will explore the challenges journalists and educators face in the ever-growing information landscape, how journalists and educators can work together to move beyond the “fake news” discussion and what students need to understand to participate as an active citizen in modern society.
