scholar Wen Xu discussed the media environment in China and the role of
TV and internet for Chinese children and adolescents. She talked
about TV programs for children and the growing influence of internet
usage among adolescents. There are changes now occuring in
public education and in the media environment in China today that are
affecting the development of media literacy in China and Wen Xu
outlined the leading themes emerging among those with interests in
media literacy education.
The Media Education Lab at the University of Rhode Island advances media literacy education through research and community service. We emphasize interdisciplinary scholarship and practice that stands at the intersections of communication, media studies and education.
