About Zoey (Xuezhao) Wang
Back to TeamZoey (Xuezhao) Wang is a PhD student in the joint doctoral program by University of Rhode Island (URI) and Rhode Island College (RIC) and a graduate assistant for the Office for Grant and Research Administration at Rhode Island College. She joined the Media Education Lab in 2014 and has been working with her advisor Dr. Renee Hobbs on several media literacy projects. Zoey’s research interests are in International Media Literacy, Youth Media and Creativity, Media and Contemporary Culture, as well as Art Education. She is a member of the Student Leadership Council for the National Media Literacy Education Association. She has been serving as a Steering-wheel Commitee member for the Give Me Five Teen Film Festival since 2014, and became the lead Research Coordinator since 2015. She was a visiting scholar at the Media Education Research Center at the Communication University of China. summer 2016. She also has served as an Academic Liason for the Rhode Island International Film Festival. Prior to her doctoral study, Zoey worked with her advisor Dr. Art Silverblatt as a co-author for Digital International Media Literacy E-book (dimle.org), editorial board member of Journal of Media Literacy Analysis, as well as a lecturer of International Media Literacy at Webster University in St. Louis. Previously, Zoey worked as a production assistant at NPR’s member station in St. Louis (KWMU) and an assistant producer at China Radio International (CRI) in Beijing.
