English | It is surreal to think that MIL scholars I have been citing in my doctoral thesis, such as Renee Hobbs, Jad Melki, Maarit Jaakkola, and Hyeon-Seon Jeong, have been part and parcel of this summer school. I came across the application poster purely by chance, and I never imagined that a Facebook post would lead to such an insightful journey filled with so many different ideas. The summer school was a melting pot of ideas on digital, media, and information literacy, made possible by the program's coordinators, Pierre and Jerry, and their team. Thank you for bringing us all together in Belgium. As a PhD candidate working on and advocating for media literacy education for Moroccan secondary school students, I am honored to have taken part in this summer school, especially coming from a context where summer schools or conferences on this theme are scarce.

I initially expected the summer school to be beneficial given its multidisciplinary topics and competent experts, but I never thought it would be such an easygoing and comfortable space for sharing knowledge. I loved the academic atmosphere among participants, coordinators, and keynote speakers. We were so immersed in discussing media and information literacy, and how things stand back where each of us comes from, that titles (professor, doctoral student, or otherwise) never got in the way. As Maarit Jaakkola pointed out, what makes this summer school interesting is that no one is here merely to present their findings, but rather to share the limitations and challenges they face in their research. In this way, novice researchers in the field receive feedback from others.

As a Moroccan PhD student from the African continent, I have definitely learned a lot. Media literacy is still in its infancy, especially in K-12 education, and there have been rich discussions about how to approach it. Naturally, I was taking notes throughout the entire summer school. New ideas have been unlocked, and possibly new projects too. I have also met several free-spirited and competent doctoral candidates. We not only shared and introduced our cultures, but also exchanged ways of handling and adapting to the digital changes we face.

It was my first time visiting Belgium, and it has left a lasting impact on me, both as a researcher and as a human being, thanks to the individuals I met at the ReDMIL summer school. It was indeed a rich and uplifting experience.
