Youth Media, Identity, and Expression: Exploring Voice, Culture, and Empowerment
How are young people using media to express who they are — and how can we better support those expressions across educational and cultural spaces?
DATE:  Friday, October 3, 2025
TIME:  12 PM EST
LOCATION: Zoom. Register.
In this interactive session, Dr. Catharine Reznicek shares insights from a college-level media literacy course module focused on youth voice, media production, and identity. Drawing on her experience teaching undergraduate students, she’ll guide participants through a conversation about how youth-centered media can open up space for identity exploration, cultural reflection, and empowerment.
Together, we’ll explore media created by and about young people, discuss adaptable activities that invite personal storytelling and critical thinking, and reflect on how different educational and community contexts can nurture authentic youth expression. Whether you're an educator, youth advocate, media maker, or simply curious about the intersections of media and identity, you'll leave with fresh ideas and ready-to-use resources for your own work.
This webinar is part of the "Teaching Media Literacy" series hosted by Cathy Reznicek.
