A democratic civilization will save itself only if it makes the language of the image into a stimulus for critical reflection, not an invitation to hypnosis.

Danielle Donovan is a senior at the University
of Rhode Island studying English, Elementary Education, and Writing. Currently,
Danielle is assisting the Media Education Lab Team with First Star URI Academy
and the Summer Institute in Digital Literacy. Danielle is interested in
advocating for media literacy instruction in the elementary setting and gaining
access to technological resources for underprivileged youth.
