Katelyn Lam

Barnard College

Katelyn Lam is a recent graduate from Barnard College. She majored in Cognitive Science with a Specialization in Human-Computer Interaction and minored in Education Studies. She has been interested in ways technology can be designed for social good, particularly for education and learning purposes. Her early role as a STEAM Educational Experience Designer propelled her career in developing experiential science and art learning programs for K-12 students. The latest research project she conducted was regarding Multimodal Large Language Models and K-12 Teacher Perspectives on integrating AI tools into their classrooms. She continues to research, build, and design digital learning experiences as an Educational Technologist at the Smithsonian’s Office of Education Technology. At the Media Education Lab, she hopes to explore and write creatively about human–computer interaction, examining how emerging technologies and digital literacy shape the ways people learn, communicate, and understand the world around them.
