In this session, Dr. Yonty Friesem will introduce the challenges and affordance of current online engagement to better connect to each other in a polarized world we live in. Since the pandemic, we have seen a growth in both polarization and empathy online. This contradictory finding will drive the interactive discussion to vision how we can address and challenges and increase the affordances as well as ask ourselves if digital empathy even exists and is beneficial for society. By the end of the session, participants gain a more nuanced understanding of online interpersonal l communication and gain strategies to better connect online.
