Host: Dr. Wesley Fryer 

Wesley Fryer, PhD, is a middle school STEM and media literacy teacher at Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina. The author of several books on technology integration and multimedia production, he is passionate about media literacy, community oral history, using AI effectively and ethically, and helping learners of all ages “Show What They Know With Media.” His experiences include university teaching, K-12 teaching as both an elementary and middle school classroom teacher, serving as a school director of technology, a college director of distance learning, and an instructional technology coach. A 1992 graduate of the US Air Force Academy, he is a Fulbright Scholar (Mexico City, 1992-93), an Apple Distinguished Educator, a Google Certified Teacher, and PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovator. He earned his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Tech University in 2012. Since 2020 he has been working on the media literacy inquiry project, “Conspiracies and Culture Wars,” now available as a six week micro-credential course through the The MediaEd Institute. His media literacy unit on “Froot Loop Conspiracy Theories” is shared (among many other STEM and media literacy lessons) on lessons.wesfryer.com. As an educational technology “early adopter / innovator” since the late 1990s, he shares a variety of resources on social media platforms including Mastodon, YouTube, Linked In, Facebook, TikTok, etc. Learn more about him on wesfryer.com/bio.
