Everyday Manipulation

Everyday Manipulation: Beyond the Buzzwords
In a world where headlines are written by algorithms and misinformation spreads faster than facts, how do we stay grounded — and help others do the same?
DATE:  Friday, October 17, 2025
TIME:  12 PM EST
LOCATION: Zoom. Register.
This interactive session draws on experiences teaching propaganda and news media literacy to undergraduate students. We’ll unpack how manipulation shows up in everyday media — not just politics, but memes, marketing, influencer content, and AI-generated stories. Together, we’ll explore what it takes to cultivate healthy skepticism, resist manipulation, and foster meaningful media conversations across generations and backgrounds.
You don’t need to be a teacher to join — this session is for anyone who consumes, shares, or cares about media. Expect storytelling, practical tools, breakout conversations, and a bit of fun along the way.
This webinar is part of the "Teaching Media Literacy" series hosted by Cathy Reznicek.Â
