After refining their research focus with our executive director, Yonty Friesem, as a part of an informal, six-month virtual media literacy course, they are now ready to share their research with the Media Ed Lab community!

Mariana Reis will present on “Case Study: Media Literacy Through Game Creating for Middle and High School Students in Brazil". Mariana is a postdoctoral researcher at PUC São Paulo with a project on Media Literacy and Engaged Multiliteracies. She holds a PhD in Linguistics and a master’s degree in Translation Studies. She is also a journalist and English teacher with over 20 years of experience.
Allie Thrall will present on “Digital Civic Inquiry: A Framework for Teaching and Learning in the Platform Society”. Allie is a former teacher and administrator, and current doctoral student in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction at Baylor University.
