Understanding young people’s emotions: A practical guide to countering disinformation with FAKE kNOw MORE

Join a webinar with guest speaker Aleksandra Monkos, who will unveil the core concepts behind FAKE kNOw MORE – an international project aimed at empowering educators in formal and non-formal settings working with young people aged 10-15 from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

Attendees will discover how to use tools like activity scenarios, videos, and the card game 'Octogram,' all designed to build self-awareness and resilience to misinformation and disinformation. The curriculum includes five chapters covering emotional reactions to information, cognitive biases, fast and slow thinking, digital well-being, and social media algorithms.

Join us in learning how to implement this universal approach that emphasizes the impact of individual biases and emotions in everyday communication.

FAKE kNOw MORE is a media literacy project designed for educators and teachers working with young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The project is implemented by the School with Class Foundation (Poland), Demagog Association (Poland), Fakescape (Czechia), Smilemundo (Spain), and ADFABER (Romania). These partner organizations, encompassing educational and fact-checking entities, have tailored the activity scenarios ‘Understand Emotions. Become Resilient to Disinformation’ and the teaching methodology to diverse contexts. This approach ensures that youth in various settings can learn to better manage their emotions and build resistance to disinformation. The materials are universal, effective across different countries, and available in English and Polish, with translations forthcoming for Spain, Romania, and Czechia. The project is funded by the European Media and Information Fund.
