KEY INFORMATION: The purpose of the study is to learn more about how people analyze propaganda. If you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete a short online questionnaire. This will take approximately 7 – 9 minutes. Participation in this study is voluntary. There are no risks or discomforts involved; you can skip questions, if you choose. The study will help researchers understand how the use of an online platform may build knowledge and skills in analyzing contemporary propaganda. INVITATION You are invited to take part in this research study. The information in this form is meant to help you decide whether or not to participate. If you have any questions, please ask. Why are you being asked to be in this research study? You are invited to participate because you have visited the Mind Over Media website. Participants must be age 18 or older to participate.

What is the reason for doing this research study? People who use online websites to learn about propaganda may develop knowledge and skills that help them recognize propaganda in daily life. What will be done during this research study? You will be asked to complete a 10-question survey using an internet-based questionnaire. The survey will take 7 – 9 minutes to complete.

What are the possible risks of being in this research study? There are no forseeable risks to you from being in this research study. What are the possible benefits to you? You may find that the questions activate your critical thinking and help you analyze propaganda. However, you may not get any benefit from being in this research study.

What are the possible benefits to other people? A better understanding of how propaganda analysis skills can be developed through an online interactive experience may lead to improvements in the online platform, thus benefitting many future users.

What should you do if you have a problem during this research study? Your welfare is the major concern of every member of the research team. If you have a problem as a direct result of being in this study, you should immediately contact one of the people listed at the beginning of this consent form.

How will information about you be protected? No personally identifying information is collected. The only persons who will have access to your research records are the study personnel, the Institutional Review Board (IRB), and any other person, agency, or sponsor as required by law. The information from this study may be published in scientific journals or presented at scientific meetings but the data will be reported as group or summarized data and your identity will be kept strictly confidential.
