In this workshop, teachers connect play and learning to the
world of mass media, digital media, and popular culture in order to
promote critical thinking, composition and analysis skills. You'll
participate in three model lessons designed to help young learners
understand how messages are constructed using powerful symbols,
including language, image and sound. You'll learn how to help children
create their own messages using simple technologies including
screencasting and remix. When children think critically about the
digital media they use, they can use their powerful voices to make a
difference in their homes, schools, communities, and the world.
