In interviews, educators shared the sentiment that leadership from DESE, superintendents, and community leaders are all essential. But mandates without funding are not effective and need to be accompanied by funding, guidance, and incentives.
Alexandre Le Voci Sayad is a journalist, educator, and author. He holds a masterās degree in Artiļ¬cial Intelligence and Ethics from PUC-SP (Brazil) and a specialization in digital business from the University of California, Berkeley. He is currently pursuing a PhD in lifelong learning policies and AI at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain.
Anja Damon is the co-Editor-in-Chief for the MediaEd Journal. She is a current undergraduate student at McGill University in the Faculty of Arts studying International Development and Political Science. Her interests for media education started in high school when, as the co-Editor-in-Chief of her school newspaper, she attended the U.S. 2024 Media Literacy Week. She carried such interests into her school newspaper and adapted the paper to a digital format. In the future, she hopes to pursue work in media education on an international scale.
