Courageous Conversations for PBS Learning Media

This collection of six lessons is designed especially for middle-school and high school students!Ā 

Use the power of dialogue and discussion in these lesson plans created with support from Ocean State Media and PBS Learning Media. Ā This empirically-validated curriculum has been shown to increase knowledge and listening skills while activating intellectual curiosity and promoting respect for diverse points of view.Ā 

Alexandre Le Voci Sayad is a journalist, educator, and author. He holds a master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and Ethics from PUC-SP (Brazil) and a specialization in digital business from the University of California, Berkeley. He is currently pursuing a PhD in lifelong learning policies and AI at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain.

Anja Damon is the co-Editor-in-Chief for the MediaEd Journal. She is a current undergraduate student at McGill University in the Faculty of Arts studying International Development and Political Science. Her interests for media education started in high school when, as the co-Editor-in-Chief of her school newspaper, she attended the U.S. 2024 Media Literacy Week. She carried such interests into her school newspaper and adapted the paper to a digital format. In the future, she hopes to pursue work in media education on an international scale.
