What an amazing experience we had at the international Media Literacy Research Symposium (IMLRS) 2024 at Ponte Delgada in the Azores islands of Portugal in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. So many colleagues and friends from the Media Education Lab attended. It was a delight to meet in person new members of the MediaEd Graduate Symposium.

Jeannine “Cha Cha” Chartier

Jeannine “Cha Cha” Chartier was unique, sharp, fearless, compassionate, funny, and above all an inspiration to so many people in the art community of Rhode Island and beyond. It is unthinkable to write about Jeannine in past tense.

Jenna is an Education Advocacy Intern at the Media Education Lab, a Youth Advisory Council Member and Social Media Intern at the National Association for Media Literacy Education and a News Literacy Ambassador with the News Literacy Initiative at Penn State. She is a rising senior at Penn State pursuing a B.A. in Media Studies with minors in Civic and Community Engagement and Communication Arts and Sciences. She is a Bellisario College Fellow, a news media certified educator and a recipient of the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications Davis Ethics Award.
